Not every seat left glowing. Here is what people still use.

These notes refer to real modules from this studio: First-value event selection, the Silent drop-off clinic, cohort window lab, and the Friday review ritual. Attribution styles vary because that is how people actually write to us.

★★★★☆

The First-value event selection lab forced us to drop “session start” from the activation KPI. Painful in the room, obvious afterwards. I still think seven weeks is long if your tracking is a mess going in.

Anuwat, Phuket — “We only took Weekly Activation Review Rituals. The 45-minute Friday format is now the only analytics meeting our CEO still attends. The counter-metric check stopped a push-notification spike from looking like activation.”

Client in insurance super-app: the Silent drop-off clinic showed that 3 in 10 KYC starts never reached selfie capture because of a camera permission copy issue, not “low intent.” We had been blaming the cohort window. Reservation: faculty would not look at our paid acquisition mix, which we had hoped to discuss.

★★★★★

Pair seat with our analyst. The event contract template is the only artefact still in Notion. Clearer than the last agency workshop.

I came for Marketplace Activation for SEA Apps. Splitting supply and demand clocks was the missing piece for our bike-sharing ops KPI. The two-day pace is tight if you have never written an event spec.

“Useful critique, slightly severe tone. They refused to count in-app banner clicks as first value. Correct, and our CMO was not pleased that week.” — anonymous, Thai fintech

Case study · e-wallet, Bangkok

Two colleagues reviewing figures at a desk

A consumer wallet arrived with a 24-hour “any transaction” activation rate that looked healthy after a campaign weekend and collapsed the following Tuesday. During the Cohort Atelier they renamed first value to “first PromptPay receive or send above 20 THB,” moved the window to 7 days, and added a counter-metric: share of those transfers initiated from a deep link.

The Monday pack lost four charts. Week-1 return among new KYC-complete users stopped bouncing with campaign spend. They still failed to ship two of five backlog events in thirty days — a limitation we now flag earlier in Signal Map.

Team meeting in a modern office

Supply-side “activation” had been first listing created. Demand-side was first search. The Marketplace intensive split the tree: host activation became first calendar availability with a photo, guest activation became first unpaid hold that survived 15 minutes. Those two numbers no longer shared a denominator.

Ops had been celebrating host sign-ups during a city launch while guest first-value lagged by eleven days. After the intensive they staffed photography support before paid guest acquisition. The PM wrote: “We still argue about the 15-minute hold, but at least we argue about one number.”
